| Amy ShahI have been in field of psychology for 6+ years. After completing my Masters in Clinical Psychology (India) I started my career working in public hospitals providing clinical assessments and therapy to clients (adults) suffering from a variety of mental health issues.
After migrating to Australia, the passion to continue working the field led me to complete my Masters in Counselling. In doing so, not only I got my registration to work as a therapist in Australia, but also the journey helped me find a strong connection with Existential Therapy. Since then, I have worked in a school setting for a year providing therapy to adolescents facing family issues, exam stress, relationship problems, depression and anxiety. Moreover, I have also participated in group sessions to spread awareness about mental wellbeing among students.
More recently I have been working as a counsellor for a non for profit organization providing crisis support and therapy to people (CALD backgrounds) going through mental health issues, relationship breakdown, suicide/self-harm prevention, workplace harassment, domestic/family violence and also providing support when people are looking for direction in life, or going through a difficult phase in their lives.
With private practice, my aim continues to support people in reaching their goals and helping them through difficult phases in their lives. I use an eclectic approach shaping therapy and techniques according to the client’s needs. My interest lies in using an existential approach where I can help clients increase insight and self-awareness; acknowledge their capabilities; discover options that are available to them and to live their lives authentically.
I want to be able to reach out to the wider community. I am offering both face to face and web based sessions. Moreover, the therapy sessions are low cost ($75 per session) allowing clients to make the most of therapy.
